Exterior Detailing

Exterior detailing begins with the doors, sunroof, and rear hatch, trunk, or tailgate jambs being cleaned and polished, and all rubber seals getting a U.V. treatment.  A U.V. treatment is a lotion like product that contain blocking agents to protect the surface it is applied to from the suns destructive ultra violet rays. This is a critical step in preventative  maintenance because your seals can dry up, crack, and no longer act as a barrier from the outside elements, such as rain and cold.

Next, we apply the U/V/ treatment to all rubber and plastic outside the vehicle, such as bumpers, molding, trim, window seals, door handles, etc.

Than, headlights and taillights are polished using a plastic polishing compound. Aluminum is polished using aluminum polish, and chrome is polished using a chrome polish.

Our 3 stage polishing consists of cutting with compound, polishing with a silicone free pain restorer, and than hand waxing with a cranuaba paste wax.

Wheels are polished, tires dresased, and exterior glass is polished to remove water spots and to repell moisture  from building on the glass.

Following the jambs is the engine detail.  You can find more information regarding engine detailing by clicking here.  I

The reason it is important to do the jambs and engine as the first steps of the exterior detail is because these are ares that harbor a lot of contaminants which will ooze out while cleaning the vehicle and continue to ooze out even after drying the vehicle.  This will affect the polishing and waxing and leave streaks on the vehicles finish.

Prior to hand washing the vehicle, we take a detail brush and spray cleaner and scrub every crack and crevice found on the vehicles exterior.  This includes chrome stripping, door handles, fender trim, window gaskets, cowling vents, windshield wipers, etc.

The vehicle is than clay barred.  Clay barring is the process of rubbing detailing clay across a vehicles surface, while still wet, to remove tar, pitch, sap, overspray, bugs, brake dust, road fallout, etc.  This leaves a smooth, clean surface, allowing for a better polishing and waxing.
